The workshops on Saturday and Sunday will be held in the second floor ballroom of the Greek American Political Club in Central Square, Cambridge, a big open space with a silky wood floor. Central Square is one of the most vibrant areas of the city, and there’s lots to see, do, and eat!
Greek American Political Club
288 Green Street, 2nd floor
Near the corner of Green Street and Magazine Street. Look for the American and Greek flags out front, and find the door marked “288” (not the door marked “Members Only GAPC”).
Central Square stop on Red Line T
mbta.com for additional bus routes, info, etc.
One block from Mass Ave in Central Square. Convenient to Storrow Drive & Mass Pike (I-90).
We recommend parking in the Green Street Garage down the block from the Greek American Club. There are also reasonably-priced city lots on the opposite side of Mass Ave. Street parking is free on Sundays in Cambridge – always check signs for specifics.
Friday evening dance
Boston Swing Central will be hosting the Friday night dance. They have lost their lease in 2014 but currently host dances at Q Ballroom, near Alewife T stop in Cambridge!
Q Ballroom (formerly Extreme Dancesport)
26 New Street, Suite 3
The building is white and has a reasonably obvious sign high on the wall reading “Q Ballroom” — look for the door to the right of the sign. Park in the lot onsite, or if it is full, look on nearby streets. Check the Boston Swing Central website for updated parking info and directions!
Saturday Night Shuffle
The Saturday night dance will be held at West Cambridge Youth Center in Cambridge. (Longtime Bostonians will know this as the new building that replaced the old Swing City VFW with the giant rocket outside.)
West Cambridge Youth Center
680 Huron Avenue
See their website for details. There’s a small parking lot across the street from the venue. Also look for street parking on surrounding streets, avoiding the permit-only areas. Street parking is free on Sundays in Somerville. Public transit will get you at least within walking distance. Or carpool with others heading to the dance!
Speakeasy Sunday night social
The venue for the super-fun social immediately following the workshops on Sunday afternoon will be Brass Union in Union Square! Brass Union has a sweet back room for dancing, plus a full bar and a tasty menu of small plates and meals! CALL AHEAD to reserve if you want to sit down and eat on arrival – if they don’t know how many are coming early enough, service can get very slow.
